Google says AI Mode can handle tasks like trip planning, product comparisons, or “how-to” queries by providing detailed answers along with helpful links for further exploration. The system uses a “query fan-out” technique, breaking questions into subtopics and running multiple searches at once.
It draws live information from Google’s Knowledge Graph, product databases, and web content, though it defaults to traditional search results if confidence in an answer is low.
Early tests indicate that searches with AI Mode are two to three times longer than traditional searches, highlighting its potential for in-depth exploration. Google emphasizes that the tool aims to deliver smarter, more comprehensive results but notes that, as an early-stage AI system, there may still be occasional errors.
