Karachi Kings fast bowler Hasan Ali is optimistic that the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season will restore fans’ enthusiasm for the sport, particularly after a challenging period for the national team.

During a press conference on Monday, Hasan acknowledged the frustration felt by Pakistani supporters following the national team’s recent underwhelming performances.

He highlighted the team’s failure to win the home ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, as well as their inability to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

These setbacks, coupled with inconsistent displays in the recent white-ball series against New Zealand, have left fans disappointed.

Hasan noted the broader impact of these struggles on the country’s cricket culture.

However, he expressed hope that the 10th edition of the PSL, set to begin on 11 April, could spark renewed interest and excitement among fans.

He emphasized that Pakistani supporters are deeply passionate about the game and crave high-quality cricket, and that a strong PSL performance might attract even those who are currently tuning into other leagues like the IPL.

Discussing the Karachi Kings’ approach for the season, Hasan revealed that the franchise is focused on delivering an aggressive, entertaining style of cricket.

He stressed that the team’s goal is not only to secure good results but also to reconnect with the fans in Karachi through consistent and impressive performances.

Hasan also welcomed the new coaching appointments, particularly Ravi Bopara as head coach and Shaun Tait as assistant and bowling coach, praising their valuable international experience.

On a personal level, Hasan is determined to perform well in the PSL to earn a spot back in the national team, citing his goal of delivering standout performances to regain national selection.

With PSL’s milestone 10th season, he urged all franchises to give their best to make it a memorable edition.
