The owner of the PSL franchise, Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi, has revealed that two new teams may be added to the next year’s addition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). During a recent Facebook Q&A session, Afridi confirmed that Sialkot and Faisalabad are in the running to become the new teams in the upcoming season.

While there has been no official confirmation from the PSL management about the addition of new teams, this news has sparked excitement among cricket fans in Pakistan. The possibility of adding new teams has been discussed in the past, with PCB’s management committee chairman, Najam Sethi, stating that the number of teams in the PSL could be increased to ten due to high demand.

However, the decision to add new teams ultimately lies with the franchises. According to Sethi, the PCB has to convince the franchises to include two more teams, and if a franchise suffers a loss, the PCB will take responsibility. Despite the potential risks, Sethi believes that adding two more teams will be more successful as many people are showing interest in being part of it.

The addition of Sialkot and Faisalabad as potential new teams has already generated a buzz among cricket fans in Pakistan. Sialkot is known for producing some of the best cricketing equipment in the world, and has a rich history in cricket. Meanwhile, Faisalabad has a large cricket-loving population and has produced several talented cricketers over the years.

The inclusion of new teams would not only provide more opportunities for young cricketers to showcase their talent but also create more jobs in the sports industry. It would also generate more revenue for the franchises and the PCB, which could be invested in the development of cricket in Pakistan.

The PSL has been a massive success since its inception in 2016. It has not only provided a platform for Pakistani cricketers to showcase their talent but also attracted top international players to play in Pakistan. The addition of two new teams would only add to the excitement and popularity of the league.
