BAJAUR: Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has announced Rs2 million in relief aid for families affected by the recent floods in Bajaur, during a special visit to the district.
Afridi was warmly received by a large crowd despite strict security arrangements, with residents expressing joy at seeing the cricketer in person. He visited a relief camp set up at Government Commerce College, where he met flood-affected families and listened to their concerns before announcing the aid package.
As part of his relief efforts, Afridi also pledged to establish a vocational training center for women in Bajaur, aimed at helping them acquire skills to improve their livelihoods. He further distributed school bags, books, and sports equipment among children to support their education and recreational activities.

In addition, Afridi inaugurated the BS Computer Science Department at Government Commerce College Bajaur, underscoring his commitment to education and youth development.
Speaking on the occasion, the cricketer said the Shahid Afridi Foundation would continue to stand by flood-affected families. He praised Bajaur as a “beautiful land with hospitable and talented people” and highlighted the potential of local youth in cricket, promising to facilitate their admission into top academies across the country.
Afridi’s visit was marked by heartfelt interactions with residents, selfies with children, and the distribution of sports equipment, leaving behind a message of hope and solidarity.
