Rohit Sharma Clears the Air on His Retirement from ODI Cricket

India captain Rohit Sharma dismissed ODI retirement speculation after 2025 Champions Trophy win over New Zealand.

The veteran opener, who played a key role with a quickfire 76, confirmed he would continue playing the format, putting an end to rumours.

The latest triumph adds to their Champions Trophy titles from 2002 and 2013, further cementing their status as the top-ranked ODI team.

This victory follows their T20 World Cup win in 2024, a turnaround after their heartbreaking loss to Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Rohit credited spinners for the success of the Men in Blue, noting Dubai’s favorable pitch conditions.

This led to the selection of four spinners, who delivered match-winning performances.

Acknowledging the challenges faced in the final, he admitted that early wickets created pressure but praised the team’s resilience in overcoming setbacks.

He also expressed regret over the 2023 final loss but emphasized India’s consistency across global tournaments.

India remained unbeaten throughout the event, playing all their matches in Dubai due to political tensions that prevented them from traveling to host nation Pakistan.
