As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) unfolds alongside the Indian Premier League (IPL), cricket followers are flooded with action from both ends. Amid this busy schedule, former Pakistan captain and commentator Ramiz Raja found himself in an awkward moment during the presentation ceremony of a PSL match on Tuesday.

After Multan Sultans defeated Lahore Qalandars at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Ramiz announced the ‘Catch of the Match’ award. However, in a surprising slip of the tongue, he mistakenly referred to it as the ‘Catch of the IPL’ while calling up Joshua Little to receive the honour.

The blunder, witnessed by players and officials at the ceremony, quickly became a topic of online chatter. Some fans viewed it as an innocent mistake, while others criticised it, even demanding an apology.

The mix-up slightly overshadowed what was a dominant win for Multan Sultans. Batting first, the home team posted a massive 228 for 5, powered by a dazzling innings from Yasir Khan, who scored 87 off 44 balls. His powerful strokeplay, featuring six boundaries and six sixes, earned him the Player of the Match award. Iftikhar Ahmed gave the innings a strong finish with an unbeaten 40 off just 18 deliveries.

Lahore Qalandars, despite a spirited effort from Sikandar Raza—who struck a quick 50 off 27 balls—could only manage 195 for 9 in their 20 overs, falling 33 runs short.

Reflecting on his innings, Yasir said he had been preparing for an opportunity like this and was glad to contribute when it came. He added that his confidence in his natural game allowed him to execute his shots with ease, helping his team secure a much-needed win.
