Rachin Ravindra, has etched his name in history by becoming the first player from his country to score 250 runs in a single edition of the ICC Champions Trophy.
The milestone was achieved during the final against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
The left-hander made a quick start, accumulating 25 runs off just 14 balls in the first five overs.
Before stepping into the final, he had already amassed 226 runs in three matches, surpassing the previous New Zealand record held by former captain Kane Williamson, who scored 244 runs in the 2017 edition.
Williamson’s record had stood for nearly eight years, achieved with the help of one century and two fifties.
Meanwhile, Rachin had already showcased his form in the tournament by scoring two centuries during the matches played in Pakistan.
With this performance, Rachin now leads the run-scoring charts in the Champions Trophy 2025 and remains in contention to equal Chris Gayle’s record for the most centuries in a single edition of the tournament.
The former West Indies captain had scored 474 runs, including three centuries, in the 2006 edition.
Having made his ODI World Cup debut in 2023, Rachin had already proven his mettle with three centuries in that tournament.
His latest feat further solidifies his position as one of the brightest batting talents in world cricket.
