PSL Exhibition Match Faces Uncertainty After PCB’s Venue Review

PCB Raises Concerns Over Arbab Niaz Stadium’s Facilities as PSL Exhibition Match Faces Uncertainty

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) exhibition match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators is in doubt after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) found Arbab Niaz Stadium below the required standards, sources revealed.

A PCB team recently inspected the venue in Peshawar, assessing the outfield, pitch, dressing rooms, and media facilities.

According to sources, the pitch and outfield were deemed unsatisfactory, while the dressing rooms lacked essential amenities.

Additionally, media and commentary boxes were found to be poorly equipped.

This exhibition match, scheduled ahead of PSL 10, was part of PCB’s initiative to engage local fans and build excitement for the tournament.

However, concerns over the stadium’s readiness may lead to a change in plans.

Peshawar Zalmi’s owner, Javed Afridi, has been vocal about bringing PSL matches to Peshawar.

He previously urged PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to consider Arbab Niaz Stadium as a venue for PSL 10.

Despite efforts to host the game in the city, the latest assessment has raised challenges.

Meanwhile, the 10th edition of the PSL is set to begin on April 11, with Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi.

The tournament, featuring six teams and 34 matches, will conclude on May 18. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host key fixtures, including the final.

As PCB continues to evaluate venue options, the fate of the exhibition match remains uncertain, leaving fans eagerly awaiting an official decision.
