PSL 10 to Feature Full Rollout of Match Officials’ Technology for First Time

PCB to implement Full-Fledged Match Officials' technology in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10th edition.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), beginning on April 11, will fully implement Match Officials’ Technology (MOT) for the first time.

While earlier editions of the Pakistan Super League had used parts of the system, this year’s tournament will see MOT applied in its entirety to improve officiating, ensure fair play, and boost the overall viewing experience.

The technology will introduce several advanced features, including automatic no-ball detection through ultra-motion cameras, real-time umpire communication linked with the Decision Review System (DRS), and live innings timers.

Fans will also be able to follow over-rate updates and Decision Review System countdowns in real time — a first in PSL history.

Officials will use handheld tablets for tracking over-rates and making instant Decision Review System calls.

Match referees will have access to quick replays from multiple angles, and embedded audio will improve the quality of reviews.

Cricket Board officials noted that the decision followed weeks of planning and reflects the board’s commitment to innovation.

PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer expressed that the move is expected to bring greater clarity to match decisions and increase fan trust in the process.

The upcoming 10th PSL season will begin with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

A total of 34 matches will be played across Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, and Multan from April 11 to May 18.

Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host 13 matches, including the Eliminators and the final.

Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will stage 11 matches, including the first Qualifier, while Karachi and Multan will each host five games.

Also, three double-headers are also on the schedule, including one on Labour Day (May 1).
