Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has announced that he will personally pay the fine imposed on fast bowler Haris Rauf. Sources confirmed on Friday that Naqvi will cover the penalty after Rauf was fined 30 percent of his match fee by the ICC for breaching the Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s clash with India on September 14.

In the same match, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav was also fined 30 percent of his match fee for remarks that were interpreted as a reference to recent military tensions between the two countries. His plea of not guilty was dismissed by match referee Richie Richardson.
By stepping in to bear the cost himself, the PCB chairman has shown personal support for Haris Rauf amid the controversy surrounding the high-pressure encounter.
