The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, expressed optimism and reiterated the board’s dedication to hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. Speaking to the media at the National Bank Stadium after the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Naqvi highlighted his participation in the recent ICC Board Meeting, where the focus was on the Champions Trophy 2025.
Naqvi emphasized the PCB’s unwavering commitment to hosting the prestigious tournament on home soil, stating, “We are committed towards hosting the ICC Champions Trophy at home. I am really hopeful that it will take place in Pakistan.” He also mentioned that during the ICC meeting, he reaffirmed the board’s dedication to organizing the event.
Furthermore, Naqvi revealed plans for the renovation of the country’s major stadiums ahead of the global event. He stated, “Our three main venues – Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi – will be upgraded before the Champions Trophy. We will upgrade other venues later as well, once these three are done. Our stadiums will be state-of-the-art once they have been renovated.”Regarding discussions with the Indian cricket board, Naqvi shared that his meeting with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah was productive. He mentioned, “I met with Jay Shah, Secretary BCCI, and the conversation we had was very fruitful.” Naqvi assured that the PCB is fully committed to hosting the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and is dedicated to making it a success.
In addressing the coaching staff selection process, Naqvi mentioned ongoing efforts to finalize the staff before the players depart for Kakul. He expressed the board’s commitment to securing the best coaching talent available.
