MT Default Temp (55)

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced the schedule for its tenth edition, setting match timings to reduce overlap with the Indian Premier League (IPL). D

ay games are set to begin at 4:00 pm, while night matches will start at 8:00 pm.

The opening fixture, scheduled for April 11 at 8:30 pm in Rawalpindi, will feature defending champions Islamabad United against Lahore Qalandars.

The decision to alter match timings follows a rare clash with the IPL, which will run from March 22 to May 25.

PSL CEO Salman Naseer, speaking in a recent podcast, stated that PSL matches had been purposefully set to begin an hour after IPL fixtures, which typically kick off at 7:00 pm.

Naseer explained that the league had limited options due to Pakistan’s international cricket commitments, including hosting the ICC Champions Trophy in February and March.

As a result, the April-May window was the only suitable slot for PSL X.

Although he admitted the overlap was less than ideal, he remained optimistic that fans would continue to support the tournament, drawn by the level of competition and star presence.

The tournament will run until May 18. Lahore will host 13 matches, including the final, while Rawalpindi will stage 11. Karachi and Multan are scheduled to host five matches each.

Despite the global popularity of the IPL, PSL organisers believe the hour-long gap will help retain domestic and international viewership.

Naseer pointed to the league’s strong track record and appearances by top players such as David Warner and Kane Williamson as reasons to remain hopeful.

As the tournament approaches, the PSL is preparing to offer another high-quality T20 season, navigating a packed calendar and growing international competition.
