Oman  is set to make its first appearance in the Asia Cup after revealing a 17-player squad on Tuesday. Longtime opener Jatinder Singh has been named captain, with selectors opting to introduce four uncapped players for the event.

The newcomers — Sufyan Yousuf, Zikriya Islam, Faisal Shah, and Nadeem Khan — will join experienced campaigners as the team prepares for a demanding group stage against some of the biggest names in cricket. Head coach Duleep Mendis described the announcement as a proud moment, calling it “a rare chance to showcase our growth and talent in a global tournament.”

He said the squad’s recent participation in domestic T20 competitions and rigorous training camps had strengthened their readiness for the challenge ahead. Mendis also pointed out that T20 cricket’s unpredictability could work in Oman’s favour, giving them opportunities to surprise higher-ranked opponents.

The Asia Cup 2025 begins on September 9 in the UAE, featuring eight sides. Oman will play its first match against Pakistan on September 12, face UAE on September 15, and take on India on September 19. They have been grouped with these three teams in Group A.

Squad: Jatinder Singh (captain), Hammad Mirza, Vinayak Shukla, Sufyan Yousuf, Ashish Odedera, Aamir Kaleem, Mohammad Nadeem, Sufyan Mehmood, Aryan Bisht, Karan Sonavale, Zikriya Islam, Hassnain Shah, Faisal Shah, Mohammad Imran, Nadeem Khan, Shakeel Ahmad, Samay Shrivastava.
