Day 6 of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics brought excitement as medals were awarded in seven different sports. Athletes from around the world delivered strong performances in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, luge, snowboarding, speed skating, and short track speed skating.

Italy celebrated a proud moment when Federica Brignone won gold in the women’s super-G alpine skiing event. She finished with a time of 1:23.41. At 35 years old, she became the oldest Olympic gold medalist in alpine skiing history. France’s Romane Miradoli won silver, while Austria’s Cornelia Huetter claimed bronze.

In cross-country skiing, Sweden’s Frida Karlsson won the women’s 10-kilometer freestyle race. This was her second gold medal of the Games. Her teammate Ebba Andersson took silver, and American skier Jessie Diggins earned bronze.

Australia also celebrated as Cooper Woods claimed gold in the men’s moguls freestyle skiing event. Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury secured silver, and Japan’s Ikuma Horishima won bronze.

Germany continued its dominance in luge. The German team won gold in the team relay event, marking their fourth straight Olympic title in this category. Austria finished with silver, and Italy earned bronze.

Italy’s Francesca Lollobrigida added another gold medal to her collection in the women’s 5,000-meter speed skating race. It was her second gold of the Games. The Netherlands’ Merel Conijn won silver, and Norway’s Ragne Wiklund took bronze.

In snowboarding, Austria’s Alessandro Haemmerle defended his Olympic title in the men’s snowboard cross event. In the women’s halfpipe, South Korea’s 17-year-old Gaon Choi won gold, becoming the youngest medalist of the Games. American Chloe Kim and Japan’s Mitsuki Ono followed with silver and bronze.

Short track speed skating also delivered thrilling races. Dutch skater Xandra Velzeboer won gold in the women’s 500 meters and set a world record in the semifinals. In the men’s 1,000 meters, her teammate Jens van ’t Wout captured gold.

Other competitions, including curling, ice hockey, and skeleton, also took place, making Day 6 one of the busiest and most exciting days of the Winter Olympics so far.
