Pakistan cricket’s ongoing transformation under Director Mike Hesson could soon impact the structure of the national selection committee, according to Geo News. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering a significant reshuffle to align the selection process with the new values introduced by Hesson’s leadership.
The existing committee—established in October 2024—includes former cricketers Aaqib Javed, Aleem Dar, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, and data analyst Hassan Cheema.
This panel was initially given full autonomy in squad and playing XI selections, replacing the traditional model where the captain and coach were directly involved.

However, the PCB is now believed to be rethinking that approach. Insiders suggest that Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, and Aleem Dar may be removed from their posts in the coming days. No official replacements have been announced yet.
The shake-up comes as part of a wider reform across Pakistan cricket, including changes in domestic setups and the elimination of various administrative roles.
Mike Hesson, who confirmed his role in selecting the squad for the recent home series against Bangladesh, could remain central to the new committee, possibly alongside Aaqib Javed and Hassan Cheema.
