India secured the 2025 Champions Trophy title with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in Dubai, reinforcing their dominance in white-ball cricket.

The win followed their T20 World Cup triumph last year and served as redemption for their World Cup final loss to Australia 16 months ago.

However, the tournament’s structure raised concerns over fairness, as India played all their matches in Dubai, while other teams endured extensive travel.

Originally scheduled to be hosted in Pakistan, the event saw India’s participation moved due to political tensions.

The ICC struggled between keeping India, a key revenue source, and preserving Pakistan’s hosting rights.

New Zealand covered over 7,000km during the tournament, whereas India remained in one city.

Discussions about India’s perceived advantage continued throughout, with differing opinions from players and coaches.

South Africa’s David Miller hinted at frustration by expressing support for New Zealand in the final.

Past controversies over pitch changes and scheduling have sparked debates on India’s influence in global cricket and ICC tournament fairness.
