Chelsea completed a stunning turnaround to defeat Spain’s Real Betis 4-1 in the UEFA Conference League final on Wednesday night, becoming the first club to win all four major UEFA trophies.

The match, held at Wroclaw Stadium in Poland, saw Chelsea bounce back from an early setback to secure their first major silverware since Todd Boehly’s ownership group took over in 2022.

Real Betis made a strong start, with Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli scoring in the ninth minute after a Chelsea error. Betis maintained early control, with chances from Marc Bartra and Johnny Cardoso testing Chelsea’s defence and goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen. Midfield veteran Isco was instrumental in Betis’ fluid play during the first half.

Chelsea, however, responded in the second half with key substitutions. Captain Reece James replaced Malo Gusto, while Betis were forced to bring off Ezzalzouli due to injury.

Cole Palmer, later named man of the match, sparked Chelsea’s comeback. His accurate delivery in the 65th minute set up Enzo Fernandez for the equaliser. Minutes later, Palmer assisted Nicolas Jackson to give Chelsea the lead.

Substitute Jadon Sancho added a third with a calm finish in the 83rd minute, and Moises Caicedo sealed the win with a fourth in stoppage time.

The win ends Spanish dominance in European finals and places Chelsea in a unique position in football history, having now won the Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, and the now-retired Cup Winners’ Cup.
