Babar Azam, the all-format captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, has been honored with Sitara-e-Imtiaz, the country’s third-highest civilian award, for his remarkable achievements in the field of cricket. The award ceremony took place in Lahore on March 23, when Babar, at the age of 28, became the youngest person to receive this prestigious award.

Babar’s exceptional abilities as a batsman and leader have earned him numerous accolades in the past, including the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of 2022, the ICC ODI Player of the Year award, and being named the captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year. His addition to the list of Pakistan’s esteemed cricketers, such as Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, and Shahid Afridi, who have also received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for their outstanding contributions to the sport, is a great achievement.

Babar’s break from cricket to attend the ceremony will not impact the upcoming series against Afghanistan, scheduled to begin on March 24. The cricket community congratulated Babar on his significant achievement at such a young age.
