The Pakistan Super League is a tournament that has always been known for bringing out the best in young, upcoming cricketers. In the eighth edition of the PSL, Azam Khan, the son of former Pakistan cricketer Moin Khan, showed his immense potential as a future star of Pakistan cricket. Azam’s knock of 97 runs off just 42 balls against Quetta Gladiators in the 13th match of the tournament was a sight to behold.

What made Azam’s innings even more remarkable was the fact that his father, Moin Khan, was in the opposition dugout as the coach of the Quetta Gladiators. Despite the familial tension, Moin could not help but praise his son’s fearless batting display. In an interview after the match, Moin said, “I am proud of Azam. He played a fantastic inning today. It was good to see him bat with such confidence.”

Azam’s innings were a testament to his hard work and dedication to the game. He has been making waves in the domestic circuit for some time now and has been touted as a future star of Pakistan cricket. His ability to score runs quickly and fearlessly has made him a fan favorite, and his performance in the PSL has only cemented his status as a top prospect.

In the match against Quetta Gladiators, Azam walked in to bat with Islamabad United struggling at 56-4 in the 10th over. He was joined by Asif Ali, and the pair went on to put up a sensational 98-run partnership off just 45 balls for the fifth wicket. Azam was the aggressor in the partnership, smashing nine boundaries and eight maximums on his way to a brilliant 97.

Azam’s knock was a combination of brute force and clever shot selection. He used his strength to muscle the ball over the boundary, but he also showed his ability to play the delicate shots, including a deft late cut that went for four. His innings were a treat for cricket fans, and they earned him praise from his teammates, opposition players, and cricketing legends around the world.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who is known for his aggressive batting style, was particularly impressed with Azam’s fearless approach to batting. In a tweet after the match, Afridi referred to Azam’s innings as a “boom boom” innings, a reference to his own nickname.

Azam’s innings were undoubtedly the highlight of the match, but it was not the only factor that contributed to Islamabad United’s victory. Asif Ali’s quickfire 43 off 20 balls was crucial in taking the team to a mammoth total of 221 runs. In response, Quetta Gladiators struggled to get going, losing wickets at regular intervals. Mohammad Hafeez tried to get his side back on track with a quick 48 off 26 balls, but it was not enough, and Quetta was eventually bowled out for 157 in 19.1 overs.

The victory over Quetta Gladiators was Islamabad United’s fourth in five matches in the tournament, and they are now sitting comfortably at the top of the table. Quetta Gladiators, on the other hand, are struggling at the bottom of the table, having lost all five of their matches so far.

Azam’s knock has put him in the spotlight, and he will now be under the radar of the national selectors. With the T20 World Cup coming up later this year, Azam will be looking to cement his place in the Pakistan team. His fearless batting display in the PSL has certainly given the selectors something to think about.

In conclusion, Azam Khan’s knock in the 13th match of the PSL was a sight.
