As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) prepares to launch its 10th season on April 11, authorities in Punjab have finalised a multi-layered security plan across the tournament’s host cities—Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
According to the Punjab Home Department, Army and Rangers units have been assigned to safeguard players, officials, and spectators throughout the event.
Each host city will see the deployment of one wing of the Rangers and two companies of the Pakistan Army.
The security operation will run from April 6 to May 19, covering the entire duration of the tournament, with matches scheduled until May 18.

To further boost security, the government has requested support from Special Services Group (SSG) commandos and Army Aviation helicopters.
These reinforcements are expected to enhance surveillance and rapid response capabilities during match days.
The PSL’s 10th edition is expected to attract considerable attention, with the participation of prominent international cricketers and match officials.
Given the scale of the event, officials have stressed the need for strong and coordinated security arrangements.

A formal request for military support has already been forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Interior.
The move signals the government’s intention to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators, while maintaining smooth operations during the tournament.
In addition to the military presence, local police and city administrations will coordinate with security forces to manage crowd control and maintain order.
Authorities have called on the public to cooperate with security personnel and follow instructions to help ensure the success of the high-profile sporting event.
