Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has strongly responded to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tweet after the Asia Cup, urging that politics should not be dragged into cricket. Speaking on the issue, Afridi stressed that cricket must act as a bridge between nations rather than a platform for political disputes. He reminded both fans and leaders that the spirit of the game lies in fair play and mutual respect, not in fueling divisions.
Addressing Modi’s remarks directly, Afridi insisted that political narratives must not overshadow the excitement and unity cricket can bring. “Keep politics out of the game,” he said, adding that sporting contests should remain free from national disputes.

In a sharp reference, Afridi also drew attention to Pakistan’s strength beyond the cricket field.
