PML-N Suspends Lawmaker and Minister Memberships

In a recent development, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has taken the decision to suspend the basic membership of one of its lawmakers and a minister in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), as reported by ARY News. This decision follows allegations of a breach of the party’s code of conduct, and it was executed under the directive of PML-N senior leader Hafeezur Rehman, who acted upon the recommendations of the disciplinary committee.

Engineer Anwar, the suspended lawmaker, has also been issued a show-cause notice, with a one-week deadline to respond to the allegations against him. This disciplinary action coincides with the political party’s preparations to welcome its leader, Nawaz Sharif, whose expected return to Pakistan is scheduled for next month.

Earlier, PML-N had set up coordination committees in anticipation of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan. These committees were organized by PML-N Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz and included members from various regions to ensure a warm welcome for Sharif upon his arrival on October 21.

Khawaja Saad Rafique, Malik Ahmed Khan, Ahsan Iqbal, and Khurram Dastagir, among others, have been entrusted with heading reception committees in different regions. Furthermore, committees for 36 districts have also been established under nine divisions.

These committees have been tasked with submitting their progress reports to Maryam Nawaz by September 30, outlining their preparations for the homecoming of Nawaz Sharif.

Additionally, PML-N’s legal team has crafted a strategy aimed at preventing any potential arrest of Nawaz Sharif upon his return to Pakistan.

This recent development underscores the party’s commitment to maintaining internal discipline and unity, even as it gears up to welcome its leader back to the country.
