Mohsin Naqvi, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, stated that the government has not reached a decision regarding the house arrest of Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). This announcement came in response to speculations that authorities were considering declaring Khan’s residence in Zaman Park, Lahore, a sub-jail for his confinement.

The PTI has faced the repercussions of state action after their enraged workers attacked military installations, including the Lahore Corps Commanders House and the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, following Khan’s arrest on May 9. The army referred to that day as a “Black Day.”

During a press conference in Lahore, the interim chief minister clarified the government’s stance on Khan’s potential house arrest. Meanwhile, thousands of workers, including women, have been arrested in connection with the violence on May 9. The PTI alleges the mistreatment of their female supporters in prisons.

Imran Khan, in his address, called on the judiciary to intervene and take notice of the alleged mistreatment of PTI’s female workers during their incarceration. However, Chief Minister Naqvi refuted these claims, stating that the women had been treated in accordance with the law. He accused the PTI of propagating misinformation regarding the mistreatment of women in prisons.

According to CM Naqvi, 32 women were initially arrested, and only 11 remain in jail. The chief minister emphasized that his government has a responsibility to ensure the safety of mothers and sisters.

CM Naqvi acknowledged the unprecedented nature of the events that occurred on May 9. He asserted that regardless of the influence held by the suspected attackers of Jinnah House, the government would not show any restraint.

In response to a question, Chief Minister Naqvi confirmed that PTI supporter Khadija Shah is currently in police custody, and an identity parade will be conducted for her. This statement followed the circulation of a viral video on social media in which Shah apologized for her actions on May 9.

The article provides an overview of Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s statement regarding the potential house arrest of Imran Khan and addresses the allegations of mistreatment of PTI’s female workers in prisons. It captures the key points and perspectives presented during the press conference
