Motorcycle maker Yamaha announced on Tuesday it will halt its manufacturing operations in Pakistan, ending its production presence in the country but pledging to remain connected with riders through after-sales services.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Yamaha expressed gratitude to its customers, saying, “As we close this chapter, our promise to you continues.” It assured consumers that sufficient spare parts have been secured and will be distributed through authorised dealers nationwide. The company also confirmed that warranty coverage and technical support will continue under existing schemes.
The announcement has left many customers concerned about the long-term availability of services. However, Yamaha emphasized its commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for bike owners.
Industry analysts say Yamaha’s departure is driven by changing consumer trends, especially the growing demand for electric vehicles. “Fuel-based engines are under pressure worldwide, and Pakistan is no exception,” said auto expert Muhammad Sabir Shaikh.
The closure marks a significant shift for motorbike enthusiasts who viewed Yamaha as a premium brand. While the company struggled to compete with more affordable local options, it built a loyal following among riders seeking style and performance.
