A restaurant owned by Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has come under legal scrutiny once again, as police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the establishment for breaking public health laws under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).

The action followed a routine inspection on May 29, when authorities discovered violations of smoking regulations. According to officials, the restaurant allowed smoking in areas where it was not permitted and had failed to set up a designated smoking zone, which is required by law.

Initially, a non-cognizable report (NCR) was filed. However, police later obtained court permission to convert it into a formal FIR. The restaurant’s manager and staff have been named in the case, but Virat Kohli has not been included in the complaint.

There has been no official statement from Kohli or the restaurant’s management so far. The case has attracted public interest, especially because it involves a high-profile sports personality.

Authorities have stated that further action will be taken based on the investigation findings.
