Veteran Pakistani Actor Shakeel Passes Away at 85

Legendary actor Shakeel Kamal Yousuf, known by his stage name Shakeel Yousuf, has passed away at the age of 85 after a brief illness, according to a family member. The iconic actor, who made a significant impact on the Pakistani entertainment industry, breathed his last on Thursday at CMH Hospital in Karachi.

Shakeel Yousuf gained widespread recognition for his exceptional acting skills and memorable performances in various television dramas. His notable portrayal in the popular PTV drama series “Uncle Urfi” in 1972 captivated audiences and showcased his extraordinary talent. Another standout role was in the legendary drama series “Aangan Terha” in 1984, where Shakeel delivered a remarkable performance as ‘Mehboob Ahmed’.

Not confined to television, Shakeel also made significant contributions to Pakistani cinema, appearing in numerous local films. His versatility and diverse range of performances mesmerized audiences across different mediums. Internationally, he gained recognition through the biographical English film “Jinnah” in 1998, where he portrayed the role of Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, alongside the legendary Christopher Lee.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry, Shakeel Kamal Yousuf was honored with the prestigious Pride of Performance award in 1992. His talent and dedication were further acknowledged when he received a nomination for the Best Actor Drama Series in a Supporting Role at the 1st Indus Drama Awards in 2005.

The news of Shakeel’s demise has saddened the Pakistani entertainment community and fans nationwide, who remember him for his remarkable performances that left a lasting impact. His contributions to both television and cinema will always be cherished, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of actors.
