In a significant turn of events, Imran Khan, the incarcerated founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has instructed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to actively engage in discussions for the rights of their province at the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and other federal platforms. This directive came following a meeting between CM Gandapur and Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, where they discussed various crucial political matters.
During their interaction, CM Gandapur updated Imran Khan on the upcoming SIFC meeting, which serves as a platform to attract investments from Gulf countries. Additionally, they delved into topics such as the Senate elections, law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gandapur’s recent meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting with PM Shehbaz was seen as a significant step towards easing political tensions in the country.
After his meeting with PM Shehbaz, CM Gandapur expressed positivity about their interaction and emphasized the importance of engaging in political dialogues with Imran Khan, who has been detained since August last year on various charges. Furthermore, PM Shehbaz assured Gandapur of facilitating a meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail after enhancing security measures due to perceived threats.
Imran Khan also discussed security-related matters with CM Gandapur, emphasizing continued cooperation with security agencies. Moreover, they touched upon initiatives like the restoration of the Sehat Card (health card) and Ramadan package in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Approving PTI’s candidates for the upcoming Senate elections from KP, Imran Khan endorsed a list of candidates for general seats, technocrats, and women representatives. The Election Commission of Pakistan is gearing up to conduct the Senate election next month to fill vacant seats left by outgoing senators.
