Interpol has arrested Teefi Butt in Dubai in connection with the murder of Ameer Balaj Tipu, the son of well-known transporter Tipu Truckanwala. Teefi Butt had been on Lahore police’s wanted list since the killing, and his arrest was made with the help of international law enforcement authorities. Legal procedures are underway to bring him back to Pakistan.

Ameer Balaj Tipu was shot dead on February 18, 2024, during a wedding near Thokar Niaz Baig. He was attending the wedding of a former DSP’s son when a gunman opened fire, injuring him and two others. Balaj later died from his injuries, while his guards killed the attacker at the scene.
Earlier, in August 2024, another key suspect, Ahsan Shah, was killed during an alleged police encounter. Reports stated he was shot by accomplices during an attempted rescue while being taken for identification and later died at the hospital.
A Joint Investigation Team revealed that Khawaja Aqeel, known as Gogi Butt, had planned the murder and remained in contact with Teefi Butt before the attack. Police are now working to bring Teefi Butt back to Pakistan for further investigation, and the JIT may request cancellation of Gogi Butt’s interim bail in the upcoming hearing.
