The Sindh government is set to expand its green transport efforts by introducing electric taxis and scooters in the 2025–26 budget. The decision was taken in a high-level meeting led by Provincial Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, where existing projects were reviewed and new targets were discussed.
Senior officials including Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, SMTA MD Kamal Dayo, and TransKarachi CEO Fuad Ghaffar Soomro were present.
According to the plan, electric scooters will be distributed free of charge to women across the province through a balloting system.

Eligible applicants include female students, working women, and entrepreneurs with a valid motorcycle license. To ensure safe usage, training sessions with female instructors will also be arranged at various locations in Sindh.
In addition, the government aims to assist unemployed youth by offering electric taxis on easy installment plans. Financial institutions will partner with the provincial authorities to design affordable financing models, helping drivers eventually become vehicle owners.
