In a statement issued on Friday, the governor said, “In this hour of crisis, I stand shoulder to shoulder with the people who are suffering due to the devastation caused by the floods.”
To ensure coordinated relief work, a dedicated relief cell has been established at the Governor House. The cell will monitor aid efforts and make sure that relief goods reach the flood-hit districts without delay. According to the Governor House, trucks loaded with essential supplies, including food items, medicines, and tents, have already been dispatched to provide immediate support to those in need.
Governor Tessori also emphasized the need for a long-term national strategy to address the growing climate crisis, which has intensified natural disasters in recent years. He appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to build a consensus among all political forces and stakeholders, stressing that only unity beyond party lines can help Pakistan overcome such challenges.
He added that the scale of destruction caused by floods highlights the urgency of moving from short-term relief measures to sustainable planning for disaster management and climate resilience.
