Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati was stopped from leaving the country on Friday after authorities placed his name on the Passport Control List (PCL), according to local media reports.
Swati, a former federal minister, was attempting to travel from Peshawar to Dubai when officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intercepted him at the immigration counter. Sources revealed that he was denied boarding due to an active travel restriction linked to an ongoing corruption investigation.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had earlier requested that his name be added to the PCL. This move was connected to a corruption case in Kohistan, where Swati is accused of involvement in irregularities. NAB Peshawar had also summoned him for questioning in the case, but he failed to appear and instead asked for more time.

An official report detailing the incident has been forwarded to senior authorities.
In a separate legal development, Swati was recently declared ‘guilty’ by police in five cases related to the May 9 riots, a claim made during a hearing at an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). Police informed the court that investigations were completed and found evidence against the PTI leader.
The ATC granted Swati’s legal team one final opportunity to present their arguments before adjourning the bail hearings.
