Journalist and activist Reham Khan has officially stepped into Pakistan’s political arena with the launch of her new party, the Pakistan Republic Party (PRP). The announcement came during a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, where she shared the core principles of her political vision.

Reham stated that her party would promote transparency, accountability, and a fairer electoral process. One of the main policies highlighted was a firm stance against the common practice of candidates contesting elections from multiple constituencies. She explained that this approach often undermines the democratic process and must be reformed.

According to her, the PRP will not permit any candidate to contest from more than one constituency, describing the current trend of contesting from multiple seats as misuse of voters’ trust.

She also mentioned that the party’s detailed manifesto will be released soon, promising policies rooted in democratic values, merit-based leadership, and citizen-focused governance.

Her entry into formal politics comes at a time when public frustration with traditional parties appears to be growing. Reham has long been a critic of the existing political culture and has expressed concerns over a lack of reforms.

Before entering politics, Reham worked in the media industry both in the UK and Pakistan. She began her career at Legal TV and Sunshine Radio before joining the BBC as a weather presenter in 2008. Later, she moved to Pakistan, where she hosted various current affairs shows.

She was previously married to former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Her 2018 autobiography, released shortly before general elections, sparked significant political debate and was viewed by some as an effort to influence the election outcome.
