The Nawaz Sharif Flyover on Adiala Road, Rawalpindi, has officially opened to traffic, despite ongoing work on the service roads. Authorities have confirmed that the remaining tasks will be completed soon to ensure full functionality of the project.

According to an official from the Communication and Works Department, the decision to divert traffic onto the flyover was made to accelerate service road construction. Decorative lighting and structural work on the flyover have already been completed, while the relocation of electricity poles is expected within the next few days.

The carpeting of service roads is likely to be finalised within a week. The Nawaz Sharif Flyover, measuring 1,915 feet in length and 52 feet in width, was built at a cost of Rs2.113 billion.

In parallel, work on the GPO double-barrel underpass on The Mall is also progressing steadily. Despite the Eid holidays, construction teams continued work, completing carpeting and drainage systems. The underpass, which stretches over a kilometre, is being developed at a cost of Rs4.6 billion.

It will provide a signal-free route from TM Chowk near GHQ to the Military Hospital and is expected to ease congestion for approximately 250,000 vehicles daily.
