At least 11 people, including three children, died, and 47 others were injured after torrential rains and a powerful windstorm swept through the Dera Ismail Khan and Lower Dir districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

According to officials, eight deaths were reported in Dera Ismail Khan and three in Lower Dir, pushing the province’s overall rain-related death toll to more than 400. The storm, with winds recorded at 100 km/h, caused widespread destruction, collapsing roofs and walls in several areas.

In Dera Ismail Khan, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Nasir Khan confirmed that five deaths occurred in D.I. Khan Tehsil and three in Paharpur Tehsil. Of the 47 injured, 41 were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital and six to Mian Muhammad Teaching Hospital, where three remain in critical condition.

Strong winds uprooted trees, disrupted traffic, and dismantled solar panels, while the power supply was cut off across several areas. Rescue and relief teams have been deployed, and the district administration is monitoring the situation closely.

In Lower Dir’s Maidan area, three children were killed when the roof of their house caved in during heavy rain. The victims were identified as 10-year-old Qasim, 11-year-old Murtaza, and 9-year-old Sohail.
