Passport services in Pakistan have been restructured in Punjab to improve efficiency, said Director General of Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi.
The DG announced that all existing zones have been reorganised, with four new sub-zones created to improve operations.
Lahore and Gujranwala Regional Passport Offices will act as sub-zones in Central Punjab, while Multan and Bahawalpur have been designated for Southern Punjab.
Officials said the restructuring will streamline services, reduce delays, and make the process more convenient for citizens.

Qazi added that resources were being directed to ensure timely issuance.
The announcement coincided with the latest Henley Passport Index, where Pakistan’s passport was placed at 96th globally.
The index, published by Henley & Partners using IATA data, measures the travel freedom of nearly 200 passports worldwide.
The report also pointed to shifting trends, with the US dropping to 10th place — its lowest position since the index began 20 years ago.
