In the first phase, 1,100 electric taxis will be distributed. Applications are now open at e-taxi.punjab.gov.pk and will be accepted until October 5, 2025. Officials said the project will help reduce air pollution, cut fuel expenses, and improve modern transport facilities across the province. It is also expected to create jobs and enhance urban mobility.

The government has already finalized financing arrangements for electric vehicles. Banks will provide loans of up to Rs. 6.5 million, with the provincial government covering the interest.
