The Punjab government has launched its first E-Taxi Scheme under the Transport Vision 2030, introducing eco-friendly and affordable travel options for citizens.

In the first phase, 1,100 electric taxis will be distributed. Applications are now open at e-taxi.punjab.gov.pk and will be accepted until October 5, 2025. Officials said the project will help reduce air pollution, cut fuel expenses, and improve modern transport facilities across the province. It is also expected to create jobs and enhance urban mobility.
The government has already finalized financing arrangements for electric vehicles. Banks will provide loans of up to Rs. 6.5 million, with the provincial government covering the interest.

For EVs priced between Rs. 4 million and Rs. 10 million, the government will contribute Rs. 585,000 toward the buyer’s down payment, while the rest will be financed through banks.
