Lahore – The Punjab government has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to enhance emergency response operations by deploying modern rescue drones capable of reaching high-rise buildings, fire incidents, and other hard-to-access locations.

According to the Punjab Home Department, these advanced drones can safely airlift individuals trapped in dangerous or inaccessible places. In a recent test demonstration, the drone successfully rescued a 60-kg dummy, showcasing its potential for real-life emergencies.

The live rescue drill was attended by Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Punjab Home Secretary, IG Prisons, and other senior officials.

Rafique hailed the technology as a “major milestone” for Civil Defense, highlighting its role as a frontline force during floods and disaster situations. The Home Secretary emphasized that Civil Defense is being upgraded to international standards through modern equipment and innovations.

In addition, the Punjab government announced the launch of a special mobile app to register citizens as Civil Defense volunteers, further boosting community participation in disaster management.

The new drone-based rescue service is expected to significantly reduce response times and improve safety in high-risk rescue operations.
