Lahore (December 23, 2025): Students across Punjab have received welcome news as the Higher Education Department has officially announced winter vacations for colleges and universities. The decision comes as cold weather continues to affect daily life in many parts of the province.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Higher Education Department, all academic activities in government and private colleges and universities will remain suspended for the winter break. The vacations will begin on December 23 and continue until January 10.
Officials said the move was made to ensure the safety and comfort of students, teachers, and staff during the harsh winter season. Dense fog, cold temperatures, and health concerns were also considered before finalizing the decision.
The winter break will apply to both public and private institutions across Punjab. During this period, regular classes, lectures, and on-campus academic activities will not be held. Students have been advised to stay connected with their institutions for any updates related to exams, online assignments, or revised academic schedules.
Many students welcomed the announcement, saying the break will give them time to rest, prepare for upcoming exams, and spend time with their families. Teachers also expressed relief, noting that extreme cold often disrupts attendance and learning.
Education officials clarified that institutions will reopen on January 11, and regular academic activities will resume as per the existing timetable. They also urged students to use the vacation period productively, especially those preparing for final exams or project work.
The announcement brings clarity to students and parents who were waiting for an official decision. With winter vacations now confirmed, educational institutions across Punjab are preparing to close temporarily and reopen after the cold spell eases.
