In an initiative aimed at promoting skill development among students, the Punjab Industries Department, in collaboration with the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), will be offering free technical courses to students of government schools during the summer vacations. The goal of this joint effort is to empower students and provide them with valuable vocational training opportunities.

The Punjab government has coordinated with the Departments of Industries, School Education, and Higher Education to organize these courses in nine divisions across the province. The divisions include Bahawalpur, Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Sialkot. By offering these courses free of cost, the government aims to eliminate any financial barriers that may hinder students from accessing skill development opportunities.

According to Amanullah, the spokesperson for TEVTA, the courses will cover a wide range of technical skills. Students will have the opportunity to learn various disciplines, including domestic electricity, heating and ventilation, plumbing, air-conditioning, tailoring, refrigeration, computer applications, beautician services, cooking, safety inspection, kitchen gardening, embroidery, and offset printing. By providing training in such diverse fields, the government aims to cater to the diverse interests and talents of the students.

The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission will bear the cost of these training courses, ensuring that students can enroll without any financial burden. This commitment from the government underscores its dedication to promoting skill development and creating economic opportunities for the youth. The courses have been specifically designed to meet the demands of the job market, focusing on quality, demand-driven skills that can lead to entrepreneurship and employment prospects, both locally and internationally.

By offering these free courses during the summer break, the government aims to utilize this period effectively and encourage students to enhance their skills. This initiative not only provides an opportunity for students to explore their interests but also equips them with practical skills that can contribute to their personal and professional growth. The collaboration between different government departments demonstrates a comprehensive approach to education and skill development.

This initiative by the Punjab government and TEVTA highlights their commitment to investing in the youth of the province and equipping them with the necessary skills for a prosperous future. By eliminating financial barriers and offering a diverse range of courses, the government aims to empower students and open doors to economic opportunities. It is a step towards a more skilled workforce, capable of meeting the demands of the evolving job market.
