Local authorities have declared a public holiday in Vehari district on Friday, July 11, in observance of the annual Urs celebrations of the revered Sufi saint, Baba Haji Sher Diwan.

The announcement was formally issued by Deputy Commissioner Imrana Tauqeer, confirming that all government offices and institutions will remain closed on the day. However, board and university examinations will proceed as per schedule, and students are advised to appear for their exams without expecting any rescheduling.

The Urs of Baba Haji Sher Diwan is a significant spiritual and cultural event in the region, drawing thousands of devotees from across Punjab and other provinces. Traditional rituals, spiritual gatherings, and cultural performances are expected to mark the occasion.

In preparation for the large influx of visitors, the district administration has implemented comprehensive security and logistical plans. Special focus has been placed on crowd management, traffic regulation, and public safety.

Hospitals, emergency services, and sanitation teams will remain operational to provide uninterrupted essential services. Additional personnel, including volunteers and law enforcement officers, will be deployed around the Urs venue to facilitate smooth proceedings.
