Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members have started resigning from National Assembly committees following the directive of party founder Imran Khan.
On Wednesday, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan submitted 18 resignations to the office of the NA Speaker. The resignations included both chairmanships and memberships of various committees.

The lawmakers who resigned are Junaid Akbar, Sahibzada Saifullah, Mahboob Shah, Shahzada Gustasab, Ali Jadoon, Mujahid Ali, Malik Anwar Taj, Fazal Muhammad Khan, Sajid Khan, Arbab Amir Ayub, Asif Khan, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Arshad Sahi, Malik Amir Dogar, Shabbir Ali Qureshi, and Awais Jhakkar.
Barrister Gohar also resigned from four committees, including Law and Justice, Human Rights, Information Technology, and the House Business Advisory Committee. Later, Shehryar Afridi, Mobeen Arif Jatt, Usama Maila, and Sher Afzal Marwat also submitted their resignations to the party chairman.
PTI leader Malik Amir Dogar, while announcing his resignation on X, said he considered himself a soldier of Imran Khan and that no official position held more importance than his leader. He added that his only aim in politics was to continue Khan’s mission for Pakistan’s independence and public service.

The resignations come after Imran Khan directed party lawmakers to step down from NA committees in protest, following the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision to disqualify several PTI leaders in connection with the May 9 riots cases.
