The Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, has filed an appeal against the Islamabad High Court’s order that removed him from office. The appeal challenges the judgment of Justice Babar Sattar, which had declared his appointment unlawful.

In the petition, Hafeez Ur Rehman argued that his appointment was made according to law and rules. He was first appointed as Member Administration on May 24, 2023, and then elevated to chairman the next day. The appeal stresses that both steps followed due process.

The PTA chairman maintains that he has been carrying out his duties legally and is now asking the court to suspend the removal order and reinstate him. He has also requested an urgent hearing, noting that the leadership of a key regulatory body is at stake.
