Police are investigating a disturbing incident outside Adiala Jail, where Aleema Khan was struck by an egg while speaking to the media on Friday. The unexpected attack occurred after a hearing in the Toshakhana II case, drawing widespread attention.
Eyewitnesses say the egg was thrown by one of two women present in the area, sparking a rapid escalation. As chaos unfolded, PTI supporters surrounded and physically attacked the suspected women, also damaging their parked car.
Police have since taken the women into custody and launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that both women are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and had arrived at Adiala Jail as part of a separate protest involving provincial employees.
Rawalpindi police stated that the egg-throwing may have stemmed from frustration. The women reportedly tried to question Aleema Khan but felt snubbed or ignored, which led to the confrontation.

The police spokesperson clarified that while initial claims suggested a political motive, the matter may be more nuanced. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses to determine accountability and whether charges should be filed.
In her response, Aleema Khan said she remained unfazed. “I expected this. It doesn’t deter us,” she said, adding that the real issue was political targeting of PTI leaders and their families.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan demanded greater protection for Imran Khan’s relatives and called for those behind the attack to be held accountable. “This is not just about an egg—it’s about the intent to intimidate.”
