The newly reconstructed runway at Quetta International Airport has received the prestigious FIDIC Asia-Pacific Engineering Excellence Award, highlighting Pakistan’s growing presence in international infrastructure achievements.

The honour was announced during a formal ceremony held in Islamabad, where officials praised the engineering teams for completing the project without disrupting airport operations. The Pakistan Airports Authority, along with the consultancy and engineering teams involved, was recognised for its advanced planning, technical innovation, and strong safety performance throughout the project.

The upgraded runway officially began operations when PIA Flight PK-3250 from Islamabad safely landed on it on 31 May 2023, marking the first commercial use of the new facility.
