PIA Employee Accused in Karachi Baggage Theft

A staff member of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been detained in connection with the alleged theft of a passenger’s luggage at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.

The incident took place shortly after flight PK-305 arrived from Lahore. A female passenger reported her luggage missing upon landing and filed a formal complaint with airport officials.

Airport sources revealed that the suspect, identified as Tariq Ali, works in the engineering department of PIA. He was taken into custody after reportedly resisting arrest during an initial confrontation with authorities.

Officials involved in the investigation confirmed that the missing bag was later recovered with the assistance of the airport administration. The bag, which contained the passenger’s personal belongings, was returned to her after identification.

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has transferred the suspect to the Airport Security Force (ASF), which has launched a detailed inquiry into the matter. In the meantime, Tariq Ali’s airport access pass has been revoked as part of security protocol.

PIA has also begun its own internal investigation to determine how a staff member was able to carry out the alleged act despite being part of a sensitive department. ASF officials are expected to submit an initial report on the incident within the next few days.
