Karachi witnessed a major blaze on Thursday after explosions ripped through a fireworks warehouse on MA Jinnah Road, leaving 24 people injured, police and rescue officials confirmed.

According to South SSP Muneer Zaman, most of those hurt sustained cuts from broken glass caused by the blasts. Emergency teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured to hospitals for urgent treatment.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation reported that five fire tenders and a snorkel were engaged in firefighting operations, while additional vehicles, including a water bowser, were deployed.

Dense smoke was seen from miles away as fire crews worked to contain the blaze.

Officials said the source of the explosions was not yet clear. Police sealed off the surrounding area to prevent further harm while investigations were initiated.

Eyewitnesses recalled that the loud blasts preceded the fire, creating panic among people in the vicinity. They said nearby shops and buildings also suffered damage from the impact.

Rescue teams confirmed that both financial and human losses were involved, but a full assessment of the destruction would take time.
