Pakistan’s passport has shown gradual improvement on the global stage, moving up two positions to rank 98th in the Henley Passport Index 2026. This rise reflects slow but steady progress in international travel access for Pakistani citizens.
According to the latest index, Pakistan now shares the 98th position with Yemen. Last year, the Pakistani passport was ranked 100th. The improvement is being seen as a positive sign of better diplomatic engagement and growing international cooperation.
This upward movement is linked to Pakistan’s recent efforts to strengthen relations with other countries and sign agreements that make travel easier. Although challenges remain, each step forward helps improve global mobility for Pakistani travellers.
At present, Pakistani passport holders can access 31 countries through visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival (VOA), or electronic travel authorization (eTA). These options cover parts of Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and Oceania, offering more flexibility for tourism, business, and short visits.
Several countries allow Pakistanis to travel without a visa altogether. These include Barbados, Dominica, Haiti, Micronesia, Montserrat, Rwanda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vanuatu. Such access makes international travel simpler and less time-consuming.
While Pakistan’s passport is still among the lower-ranked globally, the recent improvement brings hope for further progress. Travel analysts believe that continued diplomatic efforts, economic cooperation, and improved global perceptions could help Pakistan climb higher in future rankings.
For many citizens, even small improvements mean new opportunities to explore the world, attend international events, and build global connections. The latest Henley Passport Index ranking serves as a reminder that steady progress, though slow, is still progress for Pakistan on the global mobility map.
