The Punjab government has launched a digital platform that allows citizens to bid online for premium vehicle registration number plates, aiming to improve accessibility and reduce reliance on third-party agents.
Developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) in partnership with the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department, the new system enables users to participate in number plate auctions for motorcycles, cars, and commercial vehicles through a dedicated mobile app and website.
The online bidding platform is now open for registrations and will accept bids until 30 July 2025.

PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf highlighted that the project focuses on ensuring transparency and user ease. He noted that citizens no longer need to visit excise offices in person or depend on intermediaries to acquire premium registration numbers.
The digital platform offers real-time notifications, keeping users informed about the status of their bids and the final results of the auction. Officials believe this will promote fair access and discourage the use of agents who often complicate the process.
Authorities say the platform marks a step forward in modernising public services, aligning with the broader push for digital governance in Punjab.
