The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has apprehended two individuals, including an official from the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), for allegedly leaking and selling sensitive personal data.
In a statement released on Tuesday, NCCIA Hyderabad confirmed that one of the suspects, Abdul Hakeem, a junior executive at Nadra, had been accessing confidential records from the national database. The second individual, identified as Mohsin Iqbal, is accused of providing identity card numbers of citizens, enabling the illegal access of data.
Investigators revealed that both suspects had been under observation for some time. Their mobile phones were examined, leading authorities to several suspicious WhatsApp accounts believed to have been used for distributing stolen information.

Officials believe the data was being sold online in exchange for payment, and that the operation had been active for a significant period. Information of citizens from multiple cities was compromised and circulated illegally.
A formal case has been registered against both individuals. Authorities said the arrests were made as part of an ongoing crackdown on cybercrimes involving national security risks.
