Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman Announces Fitrana, Fidya and Kaffarah Rates for This Year

Renowned religious scholar Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman has announced the Fitrana, Fidya, and Kaffarah rates for the current year. The updated amounts are based on the current market prices of basic food items.

According to the details, Fitrana and Fidya can be paid according to different commodities. For wheat, the amount is 2 kilograms per person, which equals Rs 300. For barley, the rate is 4 kilograms, costing Rs 1,160. Dates are set at 4 kilograms with a value of Rs 2,800. Raisins are also 4 kilograms, with a total amount of Rs 7,200 per person.

He also explained the rules regarding Kaffarah. Kaffarah becomes necessary when a person deliberately breaks a fast without a valid Shariah reason. In such a case, the person must fast for 60 continuous days without a break. If someone is physically unable to fast for 60 days, they must feed 60 deserving people two meals each.

The total Kaffarah cost depends on the selected commodity. Feeding 60 people with wheat would cost Rs 18,000. With barley, the amount is Rs 69,600. Using dates, the cost reaches Rs 168,000. If raisins are chosen, the total amount would be Rs 432,000.

Mufti Muneeb clarified that Fidya is only for elderly people and those suffering from long-term, incurable illnesses who cannot fast at all. Temporary patients and travelers are not allowed to pay Fidya. They must make up their missed fasts later.

He advised Muslims to carefully follow Islamic guidelines while fulfilling these religious duties during the holy month.
